Biography

Colin's interest in guitars began when he took up playing the guitar at the age of 11. As many guitarists agree, it is easy to form a bond between yourself and your guitar. To be able to produce something of such great personal treasure was Colin's motivation in building guitars for a career.

To gain the necessary skills and knowledge required Colin spent 2 years studying at Anniesland college in Glasgow and 2 years at London Guildhall University under David Whiteman and David Rouse. The University has produced many outstanding guitarmakers such as Michael Gee. On completing his studies, Colin set up workshop from which he currently produces classical & flamenco guitars supplying shops in London, Bristol as well as outlets in America.

All work undertaken in building the guitars is done by Colin himself . This includes design and manufacture of rosettes and purfling, application of varnish, installing and set-up of frets to name a few of the processes which require expert skill to produce quality instruments.

The guitars are built in the style of Miguel Rodriguez from plans obtained from master luthier, Tom Blackshear.

Colin's guitars produce a sound familiar to the renowned Spanish guitars giving excellent projection, balance and separation while retaining warmth and depth.

Colin's workshop is located on the north east coast of Scotland. The nearest railway station is Arbroath 6 miles from the workshop.Visitors to the workshop are more than welcome. For more information contact Colin
